Camels

The Not-So-True Story

by Isaac Strauss

We went to Morocco for a day trip. We had a tour guide who showed us the history and landmarks of Morocco and then we got to the camels.

They had five camels waiting for us on the beach. They appeared calm and relaxed. We got up on the camels and everything was going smoothly. But then, six minutes later, out of nowhere, disaster struck. The chain connecting them snapped along with the bands that kept them from running. They were all running around like crazy. The camel wrangler kept on singing “don't worry be happy,” surprisingly unfazed. Evan almost fell off, Mom’s camel ran into the ocean, Dad yelled “I'm too young to die” and Abigail was trying to calm her camel down frantically. My camel, who I named Spidroth, was the wildest of them all. He was out of control. He kept bucking, and spinning, but I kept my cool. After a crazy 20 minutes, the camels finally calmed down.

The camel wrangler rounded up all the camels and led them to the ending point. We got off the camels and said our thank you’s. The end.

Personal note:

The day trip to Morocco was very fun! We got to try new foods, we learned about history, and got to ride camels. The camel riding was a highlight of the trip. (Note: The camels were really well behaved, and stayed on leash the whole time.)
