Strauss House Update

By Abigail Strauss

Hey everyone! Just here to give a quick update about our new life in Australia. We are happy to announce that we are settled in! We’ve got friends, extracurriculars, dogs, a house, and closets!

We are finishing up our renovations to add a primary ensuite, primary closet, laundry room, and workshop/art studio, and it’s looking amazing! Rachel is so excited to finally take a bath, and the kids can’t wait to make tons of art.

Our neighbours have been so welcoming and friendly, and we’ve already hosted/attended multiple parties. The kids have neighbourhood friends to go bike riding and play basketball and footy with. There’s a whole community here, and we’ve really fit in.

There are all sorts of places within walking distance of our house. Jake’s is our closest café, and we’ve made friends with everyone there. It’s also been some of the best food we’ve had all year. Bill and Ellie’s has some of the best pizza we have ever had, and next to it is The South Levain bakery with “the best meat pies in all of Australia.” and 6 tradies agree! We’re also really close to Chadstone Mall, which is the largest in the southern hemisphere. It’s very convenient for any shopping trips, dinner when we all want something different, car washes,  a movie, escape rooms, or haircuts.  We’ve been taking advantage of being so close. Abigail’s excited for when she’s old enough to go and hang out with her friends there.

We’ve finally picked a footy team! Hawthorne Hawks all the way. We’ve got the gear, the goals, and the game tickets! We’ve been rooting for them since the start of the season, and we are excited to go to our first Hawks game in person soon. Carn the Hawks!

We’ve finally got Joey, our dog, back! It was a very teary eyed reunion, and it’s been amazing having him with us again. He is also a big brother now! Penny, our newest family member, is an adorable little cavoodle with the same colour hair as Rachel. She has been awesome, and has turned out to be a bit of an escape artist too.

The kids have been loving their extracurriculars. They all do musical theatre and screen acting, and have started playing sports as well. The boys do basketball, and Abigail has started netball. Netball is an Aussie sport that’s a mixture between basketball and ultimate frisbee.

Marc has been loving his job and the people he works with. He is building robots at Andromeda that offer companionship to the elderly. Andromeda is a great company with a great mission.

That’s it for the update this time! Lots of love, The Strauss Family.
