Flamenco

in Sevilla

By Isaac Strauss

An original comic about flamenco:

Flamenco is a traditional Spanish dance that began in the 18th century. The period between 1780 and 1845 is often called the “golden age of Flamenco.” Flamenco was founded in Andalusia, a region of southern Spain.

The core disciplines of flamenco are: dancing, singing, and guitar playing. The flamenco performers clap their castanets so fast it like they are not even moving their fingers. They spin a lot, they tap their feet, and they sing in a very range of high to low.

One of the most famous Flamenco dancers is Rafael Amargo, known for his remarkable talent and performances.

Female flamenco dancers are called Bailaora.

Personal Note:

Getting to see flamenco live was a dream come true. There was a lot of foot tapping and fast singing, it was so impressive and beautiful. We saw it in Sevilla, which is a part of Andalusia (The region where flamenco originated).
