Travel Must-Haves
The Items That Keep Us Going
On this year-long journey, we have been carrying everything we own, and I would like to give credit to some items that have made this experience a whole lot easier.
The first item has made packing clothes ten times easier: our hanging closets! Each of us has two, except Isaac, who has one. We have one for winter clothes and one for summer clothes. They are containers with three sections and a bonus zipper area, and they can be tightened with a buckle. We usually pull them out, but in smaller houses, we just keep them in our suitcases.
The second item is really helpful when we charge our devices in different outlets: our outlet adapters! They can adapt to any outlet and be packed away neatly into our charging bags. There are four main types of outlets, and we have used all four with our adapters. My favorite one is the Australian outlet because it's just like the US, but at an angle.
The next thing helps with packing knickknacks, smaller things, and holding chargers: our various types of zipper bags. We have them in all different shapes, sizes, and colors, and each of us has at least two that we use regularly. I primarily use mine for containing my charging cables.
This next item helps with packing our toiletries—shampoo, makeup, toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc.—and that is our dopp kits. We all have a dopp kit with our personal toiletries that we take out at each house.
All the kids have a folder that we keep our school stuff and documents in, and they fit in our backpacks. Each one is a different color, and we have labels to keep them organized. Inside, we each have a piece of home. I have a drawing from my best friend Isaiah in my folder, along with some theater letters.
All of these items help with everyday life while we are traveling, and I highly recommend them if you're on the road.
